Eunomia appoints sustainability change-maker as inaugural CEO

Eunomia Research & Consulting has announced the appointment of its inaugural Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Jonquil Hackenberg joins existing Directors Mike Brown (Managing Director) and Joe Papineschi (Chairperson) in further strengthening the Board as Eunomia continues its international expansion and builds on its increasingly global outlook and impact.

With 150 staff across the UK, US, Europe and New Zealand, Jonquil will help lead the company through a new phase of growth and evolution in its mission to work with clients to positively impact the environment and society.

With over 20 years’ experience, Jonquil moves to Eunomia from her role as Partner and Global Head of Sustainability at PA Consulting, where she led its global sustainability business portfolio. Key successes include spearheading a global market campaign for COP26 focussed on green-tech scale-up and the nexus of water and carbon. She also drove the corporate strategies on climate response and sustainability.

Previously, she spent 13 years with digital technology consultancy, Infosys, as a senior consulting partner and latterly as Global Head of Sustainable Business. Jonquil defined the partnership and global go-to-market approach around sustainability for the firm, including establishing the first system integrator partnership with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, and advised C-Suite clients at FTSE and Fortune 500 companies around large scale transformational change.

Incoming CEO, Jonquil Hackenberg commented:

“As a committed and experienced consultancy business leader, influencer and sustainability change-maker, I am excited to lead, nurture and collaborate with like-minded people to make a proper difference in a purpose-based organisation like Eunomia.

“Together we will drive forward Eunomia’s dedication to effecting change in the world of business to address challenges greater than the sum of individual organisations to make a more sustainable world for our clients.”

Joe Papineschi, Chairperson of Eunomia said:

“This appointment is a pivotal milestone for us in realising our future ambitions. Our solid growth trajectory and commercial and impact success has occurred alongside an accelerating world-wide awareness of how important our environmental and related social challenges are.

“We have a world-leading reputation for research-based consultancy across all sectors of the economy, but the potential for us to do more is huge. So, the appointment of our inaugural CEO is an exciting step as we plan for the next stage in the company’s development.”

Jonquil additionally holds several external positions focussed on circular economy, climate response and gender equality as Chair of the Magenta Project; Trustee of the UK Design Council; Member of the World Economic Forum’s Futures Council for SDG Investment; Strategic Advisor to Saathi; and Lead Mentor for Katapult Ocean. She is also a frequent contributor to Forbes on the topic of Green Tech.

She formally assumes the position as CEO of Eunomia in early June 2023.
