The National Brain Appeal is pleased to announce the appointment of Claire Wood Hill as the charity’s new Chief Executive Officer. Claire will replace Theresa Dauncey, who in April 2023, announced her intention to step down.
Claire brings an extensive background of charity experience, and is currently Director of Fundraising and Communications at King’s College Hospital Charity. She is a senior leader with more than a decade’s experience in board level and senior management roles including positions at Marie Curie, Sense, Sense International and The Children’s Trust.
She has a background in strategy creation, specifically around fundraising and marketing and a skill set in developing a cohesive and collaborative organisational culture. Claire has worked and volunteered in charities with a strong health and disability focus, such as those connected to brain injury, neurological disorders and brain tumours.
The National Brain Appeal aims to transform the lives of the millions of people affected by neurological conditions by funding pioneering research, innovative treatments and world-class facilities at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and the UCL Institute of Neurology in Queen Square, London.
This strong third-sector experience will be invaluable to help lead the charity to the next level in terms of what it can achieve, and deliver its ambitious strategic goals.
Claire says, “I am delighted to be taking up the role of CEO with The National Brain Appeal. Its important work is inspiring and means a lot to me personally. I look forward to working with the team and trustees to build on the great work they have already done and deliver ambitious growth to make a difference to the lives of even more patients.”
Jackie Ashley, Chair of The National Brain Appeal, says: “I’m very pleased to welcome Claire Wood Hill as our new Chief Executive. She brings huge fundraising experience and fierce ambition together with an open and transparent leadership style. We have already started on our growth journey and feel confident that Claire will help us to achieve the challenging targets set out in our new strategic plan.”
Claire will take up the post in October 2023.
