Building a board for a leading developer of renewable energy infrastructure

Windward Energy Limited is a green energy business focused on developing energy infrastructure to play a significant part in the transition to net zero. The Group operates a number of green energy companies across the UK investing in new grid infrastructure, developing onshore wind and innovative long duration energy storage solutions.

In 2024, we worked with newly restructured Group to appoint four non-executives to the Group Board. Having previously worked with Windward subsidiaries, Bute Energy and Green GEN Cymru, we were familiar with the Group’s vision and strategic direction.

We were briefed to find individuals who brought complex infrastructure experience or experience in energy trading on a global scale. Our search was wide reaching, attracting individuals who were on the cusp of building a non-executive portfolio and who were attracted by the entrepreneurial dynamic of Windward Energy Ltd as well as seasoned non-executives who brought strong governance experience to the Board.

In addition to the non-executive work, we have recently appointed Windward Energy Ltd.’s Group Director of Policy, an individual who joins from one of the UK’s largest renewables businesses and will be responsible for leading the Group’s strategic engagement with regulatory bodies, government agencies, and key industry stakeholders. Her appointment will be announced later this year.

We are currently working with Windward Energy Ltd to appoint the Group CFO to the Executive Board, looking for a highly strategic finance professional who will work closely with the CEO and lead on all Corporate Finance and M&A activity.
