Canterbury Christ Church University appoints Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost

Canterbury Christ Church University has announced Professor Becky Huxley-Binns as its next Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost. She will join the University on 23rd September.

Professor Huxley-Binns is a senior academic and legal education specialist with 28 years’ experience in Higher Education, including 11 years as a senior leader. She has as a strong interest in delivering student success and the student experience, and well-managed partnership provision.

She joins from her current role at the University of Hull where she is Pro Vice-Chancellor of Education and Head of CEG (Cambridge Education Group (Digital)) Partnerships. Here she has held a pivotal role in the establishment of the University’s London Study Centre, expanding its reach to the largest student market in the world. She was also the institutional lead for the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) 2023 where the University of Hull was awarded Gold.

Professor Huxley-Binns will work closely with the Vice-Chancellor across all aspects of the University including delivering the strategic framework Vision 2030, delivery of the academic strategy in alignment with the work of our professional services areas; and leading and coordinating key University-wide strategic and transformational projects.

A Principal Fellow (PFHEA) and National Teaching Fellow (NTF) of the Higher Education Academy, Professor Huxley-Binns holds, and has held, a number of senior level roles and memberships across professional and industry bodies, including currently being Chair of the Advance HE Teaching Excellence Awards Advisory Panel and a member of the Advanced HE Teaching and Learning Strategy Advisory Group. She is also very experienced in both teaching and as a senior examiner across all levels of legal education, including external examiner to University Law Schools.
