As part of our ongoing commitment to the Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) sector we recently hosted two events for our fantastic MAT leaders.
Our AI webinar for MAT Chairs with Darren Coxon, focused on AI readiness across the sector and the role of trustees in supporting their schools in a fast-evolving landscape. During the webinar we discussed the importance of frameworks at organisation level to guide implementation at school level.

What struck us most was the urgency of this challenge – AI tools are already in classrooms and being used by pupils, while policies on safeguarding, data protection and implementation are just now being implemented. Another topic we explored was how AI can create opportunity for trust leaders, freeing them up to focus on the invaluable work AI can’t replace. The message was clear: this isn’t just about innovation, but about fundamental shift in how education is delivered.
This month, we were also delighted to host 25 MAT CEOs for our annual CEO dinner. We were joined by Sir Jon Coles , Group Chief Executive at United Learning, for a thought-provoking conversation about what should or shouldn’t be keeping us up at night! The discussions ranged from the Schools and Wellbeing Bill, AI, and shared challenges including estate quality, increasing SEND requirements, and evolving parent-school relationships. What became evident throughout the evening was how established leaders in the sector are becoming and how they are able to influence long-term policy and emerging practice. We have noticed a significant evolution in the sector’s approach to collaboration. The willingness to openly discuss difficulties, share solutions and collectively advocate for system-wide improvements demonstrates just how far trust leadership has developed. This is a community of practice that continues to shape the future of education at a time when government policy may be making their lives harder.

As passionate advocates for this sector, we thoroughly enjoy bringing leaders together in this space each year, and hearing how things have moved on since the last time we all met together. If you would like to join any of our events across the year please email becca.tame@saxbam.com.
