Young Epilepsy
Trustees
Epilepsy can be one of the most frightening and isolating conditions a child can experience. Young Epilepsy is a national charity working with children and young people with epilepsy, to ensure their voices are heard and their rights protected. We have done so for 125 years, and we continue to be determined to create a society where children and young people with epilepsy can thrive and fulfil their potential.
We are now looking to find a new Trustee to join our Board and play their part in this rewarding work. You will be involved in setting the strategic direction of Young Epilepsy and ensuring we are meeting our charitable objectives. Importantly, you will bring a commitment to our ethos, purpose and values, and a commitment to safeguarding the wellbeing of children and young people.
We are looking for someone with professional special education experience from wider education settings including schools and colleges – ideally residential – or experience as a school governor, with a strong understanding of safeguarding. You will also sit on our Education Governing Body, which oversees St Piers School and College. It is a really exciting and energising time to join us as we rebuild the College to improve the essential services, education and learning environment we provide, take both the School and College from ‘good’ to ‘outstanding’ and reshape our residential offer to ensure children are better connected to their communities.
Young Epilepsy is committed to creating a diverse, inclusive and safe environment where we embrace each other’s differences and celebrate individuality. We therefore welcome applications from all backgrounds, including those with lived experience.
