V&A Dundee opened its doors in September 2018 to worldwide acclaim and praise. Based in an award-winning building the Museum has been building a strong reputation with an ambitious programme of exhibitions and learning activities. Scottish and international design is celebrated and showcased at the Museum and a deep commitment to the wider regeneration of the city of Dundee is embedded in its mission. Visitor numbers have continued to rise and the Museum was delighted to welcome its one millionth visitor in February this year.
We now seek an exceptional Director to work closely with the Board of Trustees to develop the strategic direction for the organisation, to consolidate the launch phase and lead the Museum into the next stage of its growth. The new Director will provide strategic and operational leadership to the organisation, they will bring commercial nous and resilience and they will lead the executive team in delivering the Museum’s vision and mission in Dundee.
The successful candidate will bring knowledge of the culture sector, a laser focus on visitor experience and a natural ability to develop effective partnerships and collaborations, nationally and internationally. S/he will understand the complexity and diversity of the cultural climate, and the economic challenges it is faced with and will have significant experience of developing and delivering a strategic vision and leadership of a dynamic team.
