As one of three faculties within the University, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) brings together scholars and students from across a range of academic disciplines in a learning community that is dedicated to the discovery and enrichment of the arts, humanities and social sciences. The Faculty provides internationally recognised undergraduate and postgraduate degrees and welcomes more than 7,000 students onto its degree programmes each year.

Reporting into the Provost and Senior-Vice-President, Professor Tim Dunne, the Executive Dean of FASS will have overall responsibility for the Faculty, ensuring it is performing as efficiently as possible, whilst also contributing to the broader strategic direction of the institution as a member of the Executive Board. Through innovative and entrepreneurial approaches, they will drive forward excellence in both teaching and research within the Faculty. In addition to this, the post-holder will be instrumental in engaging external stakeholders and leveraging positive relationships on behalf of the faculty and wider University.

Candidates will possess the academic credibility and standing to lead the breadth of disciplines and activity in the Faculty, matched with a proven ability to bring strong strategic leadership and operational management skills to the Faculty and University. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and have the ability to lead and inspire colleagues.
