The UK Research Integrity Office (UKRIO) is an independent charity dedicated to supporting researchers, organisations, and the public to uphold excellence in academic, scientific, and medical research across the UK and internationally. Established in 2006, UKRIO has played a key role in shaping the landscape of research integrity, championing the cause and promoting high ethical standards. UKRIO provides expert, confidential advice and support to help enhance good research practice across diverse disciplines from the arts and humanities to the life sciences. As a trusted leader, UKRIO works closely with universities, the NHS, private industry, and charities to ensure that UK research remains globally respected, innovative, and trustworthy.
UKRIO is now looking to appoint its next Chair; an opportunity to lead a small but highly influential organisation at a pivotal moment in its journey. Furthering the exceptional leadership of Professor Sir Ian Boyd, the new Chair will build on UKRIO’s established structure while shaping its future direction in a dynamic and evolving research environment. The Chair will provide leadership to the Board of Trustees, ensuring effective oversight, and will act as an ambassador for the organisation’s mission, working with stakeholders, including government, funders, and other research bodies to expand UKRIO’s influence both nationally and internationally.
The successful candidate with be an exceptional individual with the vision, credibility, and gravitas to lead a respected organisation. You will bring strong leadership skills and strategic nous, with the ability and credibility to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders in the research space. With deep credibility and personal integrity around research, you will bring a strong understanding of the complexities of research environments and interplay between sectors. This is a rare opportunity for a dynamic and strategic leader to contribute meaningfully to safeguarding the integrity and reputation of UK research.
