The Stoll Foundation
Chair

Location: London
Remuneration: Unremunerated / Expenses covered
It is a pivotal time for The Stoll Foundation as we seek to recruit a new Chair, who will guide us through a period of exciting strategic change and opportunity.
Founded more than a hundred years ago, The Stoll Foundation provides supported housing and support services for veterans across schemes in London and Aldershot. Following the sale of our main Fulham site in 2024, the acquisition of our new flagship building near Chelsea Harbour, and our 2025 brand refresh, the Foundation has a strengthened balance sheet, and an unprecedented opportunity to reimagine its future.
With an annual income of £4.2m, plus the £40m receipt generated by the sale of Stoll Mansions, the Foundation is now poised to expand its mission of housing and supporting more veterans to lead independent, fulfilling lives.
It is against this background that we are looking forward to welcoming to our Board of Trustees an exceptional and energising person to succeed our current Chair, who is due to step down later in 2025, after 8 years’ outstanding service.
We are looking for someone for this role who will bring a fundamental empathy with the needs of military veterans and the challenges they face, particularly with regards to housing and reintegration into civilian life. Our new Chair could come from any sector, but they will have strategic leadership experience, and the ability to support the Foundation’s executive colleagues to envision a new future for The Stoll Foundation and maximise its impact over the next strategic period and beyond. They will have experience of overseeing diverse teams, functions and asset portfolios, and modernising systems and operations, and in order to land with confidence as our board Chair, they will have some previous Trustee/non-executive experience.
As we begin this pivotal chapter, our Chair will support the development of a bold new vision and strategy. Together with fellow Trustees, executive colleagues, residents, partners and other stakeholders, they will help The Stoll Foundation maximise its assets and influence, to provide quality housing and life-changing support services to veterans for generations to come.
