The Campden Charities

Clerk

Job Reference NBFMA
Closing Date Wednesday 30 Nov 2022 (Now Expired)

Salary: circa £120,000

For almost four hundred years, the Campden Charities has fulfilled the wishes of our founding benefactors by responding to the needs of those living with poverty, financial hardship and disadvantage in Kensington. A fully endowed charity, grants are made directly for the benefit of individual residents of Kensington who are in financial need and to organisations that assist those individuals. Since the introduction of the current grant giving programmes in 2006, more than £30 million has been given in grants. We also provide training and education for people who are unemployed or in low paid employment to support them on a realistic pathway to sustainable employment and financial independence and support individuals who are not work ready, helping them to engage with society, to make them feel less isolated and alone.

We are looking for our next Clerk, who will report to our Chairman, and ensure the successful and effective delivery of the Charities’ objectives and their continuous development. They will provide vision and leadership for our organisation, thinking innovatively about how we support our community; oversee the finances, including grant-giving, property and investment portfolios; ensure we are upholding good governance; and drive a positive working culture amongst the staff and board.

We are looking for individuals with strategic leadership experience in an organisation that has made significant contributions to a particular community; a leader who can build and motivate teams and work effectively with a board and who understands good governance, ideally in a charity context. Candidates will bring experience in grant-making and strategic financial oversight, ideally in relation to looking after property and investment portfolios. We are looking for individuals with real energy and drive to unite our team behind a common vision and think innovatively and creatively about improving the lives of those in need.

The Campden Charities is committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion in all our activities, and we welcome and encourage candidates from under-represented groups to consider applying for this opportunity. Should you wish to discuss accessibility or any reasonable adjustments you may require, please don’t hesitate to let the Saxton Bampfylde team know.
