The Abbeyfield Society

CEO

Job Reference UAMEB
Closing Date Thursday 15 Jul 2021 (Now Expired)

Salary: circa £170,000

Abbeyfield is a unique family of organisations providing housing, care and support services, and a vital sense of community for older people, across the UK and internationally. Established for 65 years, Abbeyfield is at an unusually exciting point of transformation and a new CEO is needed to shape and deliver a new structure and strategy, and work with member Societies and colleagues to set this special organisation and network on a new path for the future.

Abbeyfield is a membership organisation, with The Abbeyfield Society being its largest part, and operating centrally to manage the direction of the charity and its network of member Societies. These are run as separate charities connected by a common mission and ethos, and collectively they offer a range of independent living, supported housing and care services. Member societies are hugely varied in scale and nature, ranging from single residential houses for a small number of local people, to large, modern multi-site schemes, with a range of accommodation available and on-site facilities. The Abbeyfield Family has homes across the UK and in six other countries worldwide; wherever they are, and whatever their scale, Abbeyfield homes are set up to bring people together and truly enhance the lives of their residents and the communities in which they operate.

Together, The Abbeyfield Society and its members have begun the work of shaping a new strategy and structure, with the aim of creating more member-led, efficient and agile organisation. Following the sad and untimely death of our previous CEO, David McCullough, we are looking for an outstanding leader to help refine the strategy, and engage with members, stakeholders and partners to realise the fundamental structural and cultural transformation as its core. Our new CEO will have the opportunity to help launch the next phase of Abbeyfield’s story, and ensure it is positioned to further evolve and thrive, long into the future.
