StepChange Debt Charity

Chair

Job Reference UATJD
Closing Date Friday 01 Dec 2023 (Now Expired)

StepChange’s vision and mission remains steadfast – to achieve a society free from problem debt and support those struggling with problem debt across the country. As StepChange enters its fourth decade, we are seeking a new Chair, who will provide strategic leadership, at a particularly challenging time financially for millions of households across the country. Last year more than 500,000 people came to us with their money worries, supported by our 1,100 people.

As Chair, you will have the opportunity to make a tangible difference to society and to people’s lives. You will oversee our ambitious vision, as we work in partnership with consumer lending organisations, Government, and other organisations, and will help us navigate and adapt to ever-changing regulation and funding requirements to deliver even greater value for money. We are investing in technology, new ways of working and campaigning, and as Chair, we hope you would support, guide and challenge our CEO, her Executive team, and the wider charity to perform at our best.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about what we do, with experience of chairing, and the strategic leadership skills, likely gained in a relevant regulated environment. Our next Chair will bring strong stakeholder relationship experience, with the likes of Ministers, Government departments, and consumer lending organisations. Applications are welcomed from those who have an appreciation of financial hardship.
