Steer
Chief People and Talent Officer

Steer is a global consultancy renowned for delivering exceptional work across industries. Founded over 40 years ago with values focused on being progressive and developing strong client relationships built on delivering excellence in our projects, we now have offices across four continents and more than 28,000 projects under our belt. This is an exciting time for Steer as we embark on a period of significant growth and transformation, broadening our sector offering through acquisition of new capabilities. We are now seeking to appoint a Chief People and Talent Officer (CPTO) to join the Group Board and play a pivotal role in shaping its future development and success.
The CPTO will lead the design and implementation of a commercial and client-focused people strategy, refining the firm’s colleague value proposition to support growth, enhance performance, and strengthen organisational culture. As a key member of the Group Board and Executive Committee, the CPTO will drive strategic and operational decision-making, corporate governance, and compliance while leading the People and Learning & Development teams. You will develop and execute a comprehensive talent strategy to attract, retain, and nurture key skills, implementing reward structures that enhance performance and the overall colleague experience. The CPTO will also ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical employment standards, advise on complex people-related matters, and support regional teams in optimising performance. Additionally, you will oversee all people-related aspects of acquisitions, from due diligence to integration, ensuring a seamless transition for new colleagues.
The ideal candidate will be an accomplished and highly experienced people leader, with a proven track record of delivering impactful talent strategies within complex, growing organisations. They will bring deep expertise in organisational change, culture development, and workforce planning, combined with the ability to engage at the highest levels across the business. A strong commercial mindset and an understanding of the evolving challenges in global talent management will be essential.
This is a rare opportunity to define and lead the people strategy for a dynamic and evolving organisation, ensuring that Steer continues to attract, develop, and empower the talent required to drive its success. If you are a strategic and transformational HR leader looking to make a lasting impact, we would love to hear from you.
