The SRA works in the public interest, protecting consumers and setting and enforcing high professional standards. It works to help to create an open, modern, inclusive and competitive legal market, providing more affordable and accessible services.

The SRA is looking to appoint three Heads of Investigations to join the growing Investigations and Enforcement directorate.

The first is a Head of Investigations to lead the teams that investigate reports of serious misconduct. You will contribute to the effective leadership of the Investigations department and the broader Investigations and Enforcement directorate. The ideal candidate will bring extensive relevant regulatory experience from a professional services or risk-based regulator and/or significant law practice experience. They will have proven experience of decision-making and case direction at senior level on complex issues/investigations.

The second is a Head of Investigations – Interventions and High-Profile Cases. You will have a particular focus on interventions to ensure regulatory action is taken to mitigate risks to the public. The ideal candidate will bring extensive relevant regulatory experience from a professional services or risk-based regulator and/or significant law practice experience. They will be able to demonstrate a good awareness of the legal profession, with up-to-date and significant understanding of the external legal, political and economic-influencing factors, together with understanding of law firm business structures, business models and financial/accounting processes.

The third is a Head of Investigations – Proactive and Intelligence which primarily focuses on the identification and assessment of risk. Working closely with specialists in risk analysis and data strategy to deliver the highest standards of risk assessment and quality investigations. The ideal candidate will have a detailed understanding of assessment and identification of risk and horizon scanning. They will bring an understanding of categories and trends in fraud, money laundering rules and legislation and of intelligence and investigative techniques.
