Shakespeare North Playhouse is a unique new arts venue in Prescot that opened in 2022. Presenting a vibrant contemporary cultural and learning programme featuring co-produced and visiting performances, as well as comedy, music, community work, hire and events and a range of education activities, Shakespeare North sits at the heart of its community in Prescot, whilst also boasting a growing national profile.

After a fantastic arrival on the scene and having garnered a string of awards and positive reviews in its first two years, Shakespeare North is now looking forward to an exciting future and further establishing itself as a leading theatre and arts venue in the local, national and international ecosystem.

Shakespeare North seeks candidates for the role of Chief Executive, as Melanie Lewis steps down having led the organisation through its formative early years. The Chief Executive provides strategic vision and leadership for Shakespeare North, ensuring creative excellence, social impact, and education and skills development for the people it serves, alongside its long-term success as a financially sustainable leading regional theatre with a strong local presence and a growing national and international reputation.

The ideal candidate will bring senior leadership experience from a relevant context, experience of developing, managing and maintaining complex stakeholder relationships and partnerships, an entrepreneurial and strategic approach, a good level of commerciality and financial acumen, and strong external advocacy skills. They will also be a collaborative and collegiate leader with a commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, and a deep passion for and knowledge of the arts and its transformative powers.
