Queen Margaret’s School for Girls
Head
Queen Margaret’s is an independent boarding and day school near York for girls aged 11-18. Established in 1901, the school has been in the beautiful spacious grounds of Escrick Park for the past 70 years.
Queen Margaret’s (‘QM’) was awarded ‘Excellent’ across all categories in a recent Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) report and is the winner of Small Independent School of the Year 2023/24.
Queen Margaret’s girls take advantage of the school’s vibrant and complementary programme of studies and activities. We tailor each girl’s education to allow them to develop academically, emotionally, culturally and socially. We want to inspire generations of girls to realise their potential has no bounds, both at school and once they leave us as resilient global citizens. Nothing makes us happier than seeing our girls flourish into confident and kind, successful and happy young independent women.
The Governing Board of Queen Margaret’s is looking to appoint an inspirational and charismatic Head who will lead the school effectively into its next chapter. This is an exciting and unique opportunity to define a vision for QM’s future and continue to develop its position as a school that is committed to the provision of an all-rounded education. The incoming Head will provide the strategic vision and leadership to build on QM’s reputation for excellence in girls’ education. This person will be an exceptional ambassador and advocate for the school, with strong personal credibility and a commitment to the school’s ethos and values.
The next Head will be a dynamic, energetic and forward-thinking leader who has intellectual calibre and credibility, and who can successfully engage all students, staff, parents and other stakeholders in the delivery of the school’s aims. With a strong commitment to girls’ education, the Head will be a strategic thinker capable of developing high aspirations for the school.
