Prostate Cancer UK
Chair
Whilst many men live long and well after a diagnosis of prostate cancer, many others see their lives seriously impacted by side effects or cut short. Prostate Cancer UK is working to change that, with a clear vision of a future where lives are not limited by prostate cancer. We unite the brightest minds in science and healthcare and the most passionate and caring people to help men live long and live well. The futures of thousands of men across the UK depend on what we do in the next few years, and we need to increase the size and power of our movement to be able to address the issue. Over the next few years, our priorities are:
- Get men diagnosed earlier
- Get men diagnosed more accurately
- Get better treatments and ensure men can access them
- Get better support for men and their families
We are looking for a passionate, driven, values-led new Chair. This person will build upon our established success and reputation by providing the visionary and the strategic leadership, working alongside our 180 employees and 1400 volunteers. Enabling successfully delivery of our organisational ambition and continued growth, the incoming Chair will be a strong ambassador for the charity.
No matter their background, candidates will possess the essential governance and leadership skills that will enable them to chair a major national charity with a strong commercial mindset. Equally important will be the need for the strategic skills that will ensure the capability to lead the charity through challenges and guide it to take advantage of new opportunities. With the ability to work well with individuals from all walks of life, the new Chair will have the authority and confidence to contribute to building the charity’s reputation and influence. Candidates will need to demonstrate an empathy with and commitment to the aims, ethos and values of Prostate Cancer UK. This is a voluntary post which requires a commitment of a flexible 2 days per month.
Reflecting the diverse communities that Prostate Cancer UK is proud to support, we are committed to finding a Chair who is dedicated to furthering diversity and inclusion within the charity. We actively and warmly encourage applications therefore from a broad and deep range of backgrounds and experiences.
