Procure Plus
Chair
Procure Plus is in the business of regeneration. A membership organisation formed from a consortium of Registered Housing Providers they are driven by the desire to get maximum value for every £1 of spend for their customers. Their business model combines volume for many customers, all in the same market for the same service at the same time, and allows them to reinvest some of the savings made, transferring them into social and economic well-being in social housing neighbourhoods.
A commercial, not for profit, company that specialises in the procurement of goods and services related to the repairs, maintenance and new-build developments of a range of social housing clients. Working with RPs that share their commitment to making material differences to the social and economic well-being of their neighbourhoods, they aggregate the demand for construction services from their customer base and make this work more intelligently for both the buyer and supplier. Using a bespoke software system that provides market intelligence and comparisons that individual RPs would not otherwise have access to.
Through the provision of several operating framework agreements that provide a cost-effective source of supply for RPs they are also able to influence suppliers to provide quality employment opportunities to people who are disadvantaged in the labour market. By taking an employer-led approach to understanding employer need, they overcome scepticism about recruiting people from disadvantaged backgrounds and over the past year helped nearly 800 candidates into work: 86% of those individuals were from one or more priority groups which include ex-offenders, long-term unemployed, BAME, history of homelessness and non-traditional roles (eg females in construction).
Awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise: Promoting Opportunity through Social Mobility in 2017 and again in 2022, Procure Plus is recognised for both helping to create quality and sustainable employment opportunities and a commitment to supporting those most distant from the labour market.
Following a long and successful term of their outgoing Chair, they are looking for a new Chair who will continue to support their innovative ways of working. Candidates will be happy operating in a highly collegiate and collaborative environment and working in close partnership with the founder Chief Executive. Acting as an ambassador for Procure Plus the Chair will further develop links into regional and national government to support funding opportunities and influence policy across the areas of poverty, equality, employment and housing.
The Chair will bring the commercial understanding and personal empathy to support the growth and expansion of the organisation from its heartland in the north-west of England. The Chair will lead the development and understanding of Procure Plus’s business model and be an internal leader and steward for the organisation.
