Music Patron
CEO

Founded in 2020 within Sound and Music and launched publicly in 2024 following successful prototyping, Music Patron is an ambitious digital startup that enables collective philanthropy through an innovative online platform.
The platform connects audiences passionate about new music directly with composers, facilitating support for music creation through a sustainable funding model. Beyond the financial support, composers benefit from meaningful patron engagement, sharing their creative journey through regular updates, performance invitations, and insights into their artistic process. Through Music Patron, composers build communities of patrons who support their work with donations of £10 or more per month. Currently supporting 27 composers with regular donations from over 100 patrons, Music Patron aims to expand significantly within the next few years and has an ambition to achieve financial self-sufficiency.
Since its inception in 2021, Music Patron has been generously incubated by Sound and Music, the UK’s national charity for new music. This foundational support, alongside a growing community of over 100 patrons and continued investment from the Boltini Trust, has made this next phase of growth possible.
Music Patron is now embarking on a gradual transition towards independence, with full separation expected in 2026. Throughout this process, day-to-day operations will continue as normal, ensuring stability for composers, patrons and partners. Upon separation, Music Patron will maintain a close relationship with Sound and Music within the new music sector.
Music Patron now seeks a dynamic CEO to guide this transition and drive its next phase of growth. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of music creation in the UK by leading a startup that’s reimagining how new music is funded and supported. The CEO will develop and lead Music Patron’s growth strategy by expanding its digital platform and community and building key partnerships across the music and wider cultural sectors, as well as exploring other areas for potential collaborations. They will lead and develop a small, dedicated team and move Music Patron towards realising organisational and financial sustainability.
The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and entrepreneurial individual with a passion for new music and creativity, a track record of senior leadership in a relevant context, and the ability to build strategic relationships and partnerships. Experience of charity governance structures will also be desirable, as will strong external advocacy skills, whether from a development and fundraising context or elsewhere.
