Metropolitan Thames Valley
Non-Executives
With a turnover of £446m and 58,000 homes, MTVH is one of the largest social landlords in the country. It is a mould-breaking and large-scale developer of modern new homes for affordable rent, shared-ownership and sale, and a provider of essential care and support services to residents across London, the South East, East Midlands and East of England. Our history, our culture and our values stand out, and have never felt more vital to our work and to shaping our future and the future of the communities we serve; our vision is that everyone should have a home and the chance to live well.
We are proud to be a high-performing organisation, with excellent regulatory ratings, improving levels of customer satisfaction, and an A- stable credit rating. We are delivering real value for the people we serve, and yet there is still much more that we need to do. The needs and expectations of our residents and communities have changed. New challenges and inequalities have emerged during the pandemic, and barriers that existed before have grown. The Black Lives Matter movement has highlighted the urgent need for more to be done to address racial inequalities. Housing supply continues to fail to keep up with demand, particularly for those on lower incomes, and people’s care needs are growing. The government has made the welcome commitment to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050, with the efficiency of existing homes having a major part to play.
Against this backdrop we have significant challenges and opportunities ahead of us, and we need energised and committed people at every level of the organisation to shape and deliver our new strategic plan. We are now looking to welcome new main Board Members to replace two valued colleagues who have reached their maximum terms;
- one person with broad leadership credentials, strong non-executive experience and strategic-level expertise in property asset management will join as Chair-Designate of our Property Committee; and
- a second new Board Member (a qualified accountant) will join our Audit & Risk and Treasury committees, bringing non-executive experience and broad senior-level finance expertise, gained in appropriately large and complex organisations. This person will also ideally have the skills and capacity to be considered for a Committee Chair role.
We are also looking for;
- a third person, with expertise around harnessing customer voice, and experience in senior customer-centric roles within housing or other regulated sectors, to join as an Independent Member of our Customer Services Committee. This Committee plays a critical role in our governance structure.
These are remunerated roles, with Committee Chairs paid £14,000 a year, Board Members £12,500 a year, and the Committee Member paid £4,000 a year for a lighter time commitment.
