Marie Curie
Chief Nursing Officer
At some point in our lives, everyone will be affected by dying, death and bereavement and Marie Curie is dedicated to ensuring that people get the end of life experience they deserve. Everything we do – from providing expert care, practical information and emotional support to funding ground-breaking research and advocating for change – helps people approaching the end of their lives, and their loved ones, make the most of the time they have together.
We are seeking an ambitious Chief Nursing Officer to join Marie Curie and contribute towards key decision making and strategic aspirations as part of the Executive Team. The Chief Nursing Officer is a pivotal role within Marie Curie’s Executive team, providing visible clinical leadership and direction for the development of clinical practice to over 2,000 nurses, allied health professionals, health care assistants and clinical support workers, ensuring patients and their loved ones get the very best experience and highest standard of patient-centred care. This person will bring a robust and dynamic approach to care delivery and service development alongside the Chief Medical Officer, Executive Director of Operations and the Business Development team. Additionally, this person will influence our clinical work as influencing wider best practice and innovation across the four nations. This role represents a rare opportunity for the right person to be a key voice for change and advancement of nursing and care practices across the UK
This is a vital leadership role within Marie Curie, and we are keen to find candidates with a track record of driving high quality, caring and innovative clinical services. With extensive experience in a senior nursing role, you will bring highly developed leadership skills, with the ability to deliver through highly effective teams, working collaboratively across the organisation. Working collaboratively at system-level with key partners in the NHS and wider healthcare settings, you will bring a high level of emotional intelligence and experience of leading in a comparably complex environment. Understanding of the different regulatory frameworks across the four nations is desirable, but not essential.
This will be an inspirational leader, who brings gravitas and compelling communication skills, both internally and externally, and a collaborative approach to team management. You will empower those around you, whilst also bringing an adaptable mindset, excellent judgement skills and the ability to respond quickly and decisively when needed. Importantly, you will bring a genuine commitment to and interest in the work of Marie Curie. As a values-driven leader, you will work in line with our values: always compassionate; make things happen; lead in our field; and put people at our heart.
Reflecting the diverse communities that we are proud to serve, Marie Curie is committed to widening the diversity of its leadership and board, and appointing leaders who are committed to lead and create a workplace focused on equity, diversity and inclusion. We actively and warmly encourage applications therefore from a broad and deep range of backgrounds and experiences.
