HS2 is Britain’s new high speed rail line being built from London to the North-West, with HS2 trains linking the biggest cities in Scotland, Manchester, Birmingham and London. It is the largest infrastructure project in Europe and the most important economic and social regeneration project in decades. Linking eight of Britain’s 10 largest cities, it will serve one in five of the UK population and allow our city economies to work more closely together and be more globally competitive.

The position of Chief Financial Officer at HS2 is a once in a generation opportunity to play a pivotal role leading one of the world’s largest infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will take on a key strategic and business-critical leadership position on the Executive Committee of HS2, working closely with the CEO and COO to form a strong, core senior leadership team that will be virtually interchangeable. They will be a visible and compelling leader within HS2, and a credible and respected partner to external stakeholders at the highest levels.

This will be a position for a politically astute and sophisticated leader who has led a finance function of significant scale and complexity. They will leverage an extensive track record in stakeholder management and will ideally be able to evidence prior experience of interfacing with the public sector. The successful candidate will embody HS2’s core values of leadership, integrity, respect, and safety. Finally, a strong sense of duty towards ensuring taxpayers’ value for money will be essential.
