Health & Care Professions Council

Chief Executive

Job Reference XBGCA
Closing Date Monday 19 Dec 2022

The HCPC protects the public, by regulating 15 health and care professions in the UK. We set the standards for their education and training, their professional skills, conduct, performance and ethics and their continuing professional development as well as keeping a Register of the professionals who meet these standards. We approve the education programmes that professionals must complete prior to registration and take action when registrants do not meet our standards. Our work is critical in ensuring that the public can retain high confidence in the support and care they receive.

We are now looking for an inspirational leader to take on the role of our next Chief Executive. Working closely with the Chair and Council, you will lead us through our ambitious change agenda and deliver operational excellence and our long-term strategy.

For you to succeed, you will be an ambitious and resilient leader with board level experience and a track record of delivering change and operational excellence and of driving high-quality performance consistently, within comparably complex environments.  A thorough understanding of the regulation of professionals is desirable as is an understanding of the role of healthcare professionals, their representative bodies and Government’s wider plans for the modernisation of health and social services.

You will be a key spokesperson for the organisation and know how to engage people both internally and externally.  You will exemplify a culture of accountability, high engagement, effective decision making and people centred leadership, underpinned by clear conviction in our mission and values. You will have the personal authority and credibility to influence and build effective stakeholder relationships and engender their trust and confidence.

HCPC’s vision is to be recognised as an actively anti-discriminatory organisation that upholds and promotes best practice in equality, diversity and inclusion and an active ally for change. We aspire to have a diverse and inclusive workplace and strongly encourage suitably qualified applicants from a wide range of backgrounds to apply and join the HCPC.
