Commercial Director, HSEL

Location: Harrow on the Hill, Middlesex

Harrow School is an internationally renowned boarding school, educating over 830 boys aged 13 to 18. HSEL (Harrow School Enterprises Ltd) is a commercial subsidiary of the school, operating a range of commercial activities including holiday courses, a sizeable Sports Centre and an events and historic tours business. The Commercial Director is responsible for the profitable and effective running of HSEL.

This position becomes vacant on the retirement of the current incumbent following 20+ years in post. HSEL has developed and evolved substantially during that period, and today employs 10 permanent staff, as well as a far larger number of seasonal employees.

Applications are encouraged from individuals with the experience and skills to shape and deliver HSEL’s future commercial priorities, building on Harrow’s already successful commercial operations. They will also have the chance to work with others in the wider Corporation and Foundation of which Harrow is a part, particularly with nearby John Lyon School.

This role would suit someone with a genuine interest in young people and their development, who wishes to utilise their commercial skillset for the benefit of a charitable and educational institution. Candidates will have a track record of having overseen commercial operations, of successful income generation and of team management. They will operate as part of the Harrow Bursarial team, based at Harrow School.

The Commercial Director will receive a competitive salary and benefits according to their experience and qualifications.
