Harewood House Trust

CEO

Job Reference EBFXA
Closing Date Friday 02 Dec 2022 (Now Expired)

Harewood House, near Leeds, is one of England’s finest 18th century country houses with a magnificent collection of fine and decorative arts. Set in a Capability Brown landscape, it welcomes over 250,000 visitors each year, has over 30,000 members, and is also the family seat of the Earl and Countess of Harewood. Harewood has been particularly active in both confronting its own history and the source of the wealth on which it is built, and also in engaging with what this colonial legacy means today and so, with a vision to be a sector leader and to re-imagine what makes a country house and its landscape relevant in the 21st century, Harewood engages a diverse audience with an exciting programme of exhibitions.

The Board now seeks candidates for the role of CEO; this person will balance the charity’s cultural and educational objectives with a robust business plan that can ensure sustainability and growth in an increasingly volatile economic climate. With responsibility for the entire organisation, they will lead on strategy, development, delivery, performance, staff wellbeing and the long term, sustainable success of Harewood House. The ideal candidate will bring broad leadership experience, ideally from the cultural or adjacent sectors, and be a big-picture thinker, with excellent communication, advocacy and stakeholder management skills. They will have strong business acumen and ideally experience of diversifying income streams and successful fundraising, as well as a consultative, open-minded and creative approach.
