Education Development Trust

Director People

Job Reference FBDTE
Closing Date Friday 10 Jun 2022 (Now Expired)

Education Development Trust is an international not-for-profit organisation working to improve education outcomes around the world. We seek to improve education and transitions into work through expert research on what works. Our experts deliver highly contextualised programmes designed to transform education systems, schools and lives. Our vision is a world in which all lives are transformed through excellent education. We strive to change education for good, grounding our work in research and evidence. We support leaders to raise standards, improve school performance, develop great teachers and open career pathways – transforming lives and futures in contexts as diverse as Brunei, Kenya, England, Rwanda, the UAE, and others.

Everything we do is underpinned by our values of excellence, integrity, accountability, collaboration and inclusion – both in our overarching strategies and in our day-to-day work. Supporting our employees wellbeing, facilitating flexible ways of working, and achieving a diverse and inclusive working environment are key organisational priorities.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join EDT as our champion of people leadership and change, with oversight of the organisation’s HR function. The Director People will play a critical role shaping and delivering our people strategy to adapt the organisation for a post- Covid world. Continuing to drive transformation, modernisation and high performance across the organisation, the Director People will bring a fresh and invigorated approach to key initiatives to keep our team engaged and motivated, equipped and ready for the challenges and changes that we all face.

The Director People will be responsible for the delivery of all HR, organisation development, culture, safeguarding, payroll, talent and reward activities. This person will lead a team of seven professionals supporting the organisation’s range of operations, reporting directly to the Chief Executive.

About You

The successful candidate will be an experienced, executive HR leader and as such will bring a demonstrable track record of having led an HR function, organisation design, and contributing to people and organisational strategies at board level in a complex, medium-sized organisation, or at leadership level in a division of a large organisation. You will be able to work at a strategic level whilst maintaining strong operational delivery to develop, refresh and drive our HR function: the ability to evidence positive strategic and operational impact within a range of organisations, of comparable complexity, will be advantageous.

You will have the ability to build strong relationships throughout EDT. You will be a confident external networker and fantastic communicator with a robust personality. You will bring genuine passion for what you do and want to support our excellent executive team in delivering more impact within the business.
