Director of Finance

Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (Derbyshire Healthcare) is looking for its next Director of Finance, who will be an integral part of the Executive Team, influencing the strategy and driving strong financial performance to transform care for our service users. This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to providing outstanding care for the people of Derbyshire and beyond.
Operating across three main sites and over 50 community sites, Derbyshire Healthcare is a lead provider of inpatient and community based mental health and related specialist services across Derbyshire. The Trust also provides a wide range of services for children, together with learning disability and autism services across the city of Derby.
The Trust supports a diverse population, including areas of wealth alongside significant deprivation. The Trust’s catchment area includes both city and rural populations, with over 70 different languages being spoken. With an income of c£210m, the Trust is growing, and part way through an ambitious £150m capital development programme that will bring new acute mental health services to Derbyshire, through the use of new, modern healthcare facilities.

The Trust is rated ‘Good’ overall by the regulator, the Care Quality Commission.
In this environment, the importance of a strong finance directorate and of ensuring that the Trust’s financial affairs are managed to the highest standards of probity is crucial. The Director of Finance will oversee finance, estates, facilities and procurement and will be at the centre of delivering strong financial management to support a robust financial strategy for the future development of the Trust’s services, including an agreed cost savings plan for the present year of £9m.
Reporting to the CEO, Mark Powell, the incoming Director of Finance will contribute fully as a member of the executive team in formulating strategy, policy, and the delivery of all the Trust’s objectives in these changing times. Derbyshire Healthcare is keen to welcome an enthusiastic individual who will bring talent, skill, and experience to a high calibre leadership team. The Trust has a forward-looking, positive culture, and it will be important for the Director to fully contribute to this environment. While this person may well currently work in the NHS, health service experience is not a pre-requisite. We are seeking candidates with the leadership credentials to work effectively through a strong team, and the collaborative instincts to partner well across the system. The role is remunerated competitively at VSM level.
