Director of Business Innovation
With an ambition to shift society from intervention to prevention, Cattanach is an independent Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) with an endowment of approximately £25 million and an annual spend of just over £2 million. Research shows that it all starts with the early years as investments during these first years of life have the highest chances of building resilience and improving lifelong outcomes. Cattanach are on a journey to becoming an agile driver for systems change, working and learning with partners across the public, private, and voluntary sectors.
Cattanach are now looking to appoint a Director of Business Innovation. As part of the Executive team and directly reporting to the Chief Executive, the successful candidate will lead on all matters related to consolidating and developing Cattanach’s business activities. The new Director will develop Cattanach’s opportunities to identify, attract, and secure external investment for programmatic work and innovation initiatives, while building strong operations and finance functions. At the same time, the Director of Business Innovation will work with the Chief Executive towards developing an innovation unit, building and managing the emerging team.
The successful candidate will bring at least five years of proven leadership and management experience and a track record of developing successful innovation initiatives. This opportunity would suit someone immersed in supporting start-ups, from conception to scaling, and with exceptional networking and relationship management skills. They will need to demonstrate their experience in assessing, scoping, developing, and scaling business propositions as well as a good grasp of data and evidence. Strong people and financial management skills will be essential, as are excellent networking and presentation skills. We are particularly inviting professionals from a background in investment banking or private equity who are looking to use their skills and experience to pursue a social mission. As such, we would expect the successful candidate to show a strong motivation to drive systems change, which includes the ability to disrupt in a constructive and positive way.
