The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) is responsible for the governance, administration and regulation of horseracing and the industry in the UK. The BHA leads on the development and growth of racing and prioritises the health and welfare of the sport’s participants, as well as maintaining the integrity of racing and keeping it fair and clean. The BHA has a clear vision to build a brighter future for the sport, its horses, and its people. Headquartered in London but active across the UK, the BHA has 250 employees, and works with up to 600 trainers.

The BHA is looking to appoint a Director of Communications & Corporate Affairs, reporting directly to the Chief Executive, who will develop clear, confident, and strategic communications objectives. The Director of Communications & Corporate Affairs will bring the gravitas to build strong relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, including high profile industry and political figures. They will also bring strong leadership skills to the team and be actively involved in the planning and execution of the BHA’s strategy.

The BHA is looking for a dynamic, flexible, and committed individual who will work collaboratively across the BHA, the industry and its stakeholders. Influence, strategic thinking, and relationship-building skills will be critical to the success of this role, as well as the ability to identify new opportunities or initiatives that would support the BHA’s strategy and mission. Experience of people and strategic leadership will be essential, as will well developed stakeholder engagement skills.
