Battersea Arts Centre
Chair of Trustees
Battersea Arts Centre is a home for radical artistic ideas. BAC supports artists, young people, and communities to spark positive change through their creativity in many different ways, and this social purpose is central to everything they do. Based in an iconic building at the heart of Battersea, their work revolves around an ambitious live and digital programme of performance, heritage, events, and creative and community projects. Projects developed at BAC can also be found in communities and on tour across the UK and the world.
After leading the Board of BAC for 4 years, David Bryan will stand down this year having made an outstanding contribution to the BAC and its legacy. He leaves in place a proactive and committed Board, an excellent Executive Team, a stable financial position, and an exciting programme ahead. BAC is now seeking an exceptional candidate to take on the role of Chair.
Candidates should bring considerable leadership experience to the role, ideally gained in both an executive and non-executive context, though this can be someone’s first Chair post. It will be important for the postholder to have an entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to think strategically and problem solve. The Chair will be a key ambassador for BAC, helping to raise its profile and playing an important role in advocating for the ground-breaking work done by the organisation. For this reason, the successful candidate will have exceptional communications skills, and be able to work with a wide range of stakeholders. Candidates will have a passion for the performing arts and should be committed to the principle that the arts have the power to transform lives and communities.
