Sir Andrew Ford, Chair of the Board of Governors at Bancroft’s, is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Alex Frazer as the incoming Head, effective September 2024. This comes as the current Head, Mr Simon Marshall, prepares to retire at the end of the academic year after eight successful years leading the School.
Alex brings to Bancroft’s nearly 20 years’ invaluable experience of leadership roles in education. Notable among his achievements, Alex was Head of Wolverhampton Grammar School in the West Midlands from 2020 to 2023, successfully expanding the school, raising academic performance, reshaping the pastoral system and revitalising relationships with the alumni community.
Currently Director of Projects at North London Collegiate School, he also played a pivotal role at Mill Hill School from 2012 to 2020 as Senior Deputy Head and Deputy Head (Academic), leaving a lasting impact through his strategic vision. He has been a governor of a girls’ state school, serves as an ISI inspector and sits on the advisory committee of an independent scholarship trust.
A modern languages graduate from Cambridge University, Alex caught the teaching bug during his year abroad working at a secondary school in the South of France. He started his professional career at Trinity School, Croydon, teaching French and German and contributing to a wide variety of extra-curricular activities. After five years, he moved to Hampton School where he spent 11 years, latterly as Head of Modern Languages.
Alex Frazer said:
“I am honoured and excited to be appointed to the Headship of Bancroft’s, which I first visited in the mid-1990s whilst preparing to go into teaching. Over the years I have remained highly aware of the fantastic academic success enjoyed by Bancroft’s pupils – something that is all the more impressive for being achieved through a kind, holistic and empowering approach to education which builds young people’s confidence and prepares them to thrive in all aspects of their lives beyond school. Having enjoyed meeting a good number of pupils and colleagues during the appointment process, I am thoroughly looking forward to joining the Bancroft’s community in 2024.”
On behalf of the Board of Governors, Sir Andrew Ford expressed his great confidence in Alex Frazer’s ability to successfully lead Bancroft’s into the future, citing his considerable expertise and wealth of experience.
The Board looks forward to welcoming Alex to Bancroft’s School; they strongly believe that the whole School community will thrive under his leadership and that the School’s already strong reputation will grow and flourish going forward.
