Jeremy Sandelson, a senior business leader and long-standing supporter of the creative arts, has been appointed Chair and Pro-Chancellor of the University for the Creative Arts (UCA).
A partner at leading international law firm, Clifford Chance, Jeremy has many years’ experience of managing business risk, crisis and reputation management, corporate governance and business culture. As well as being a distinguished figure in the commercial world, Jeremy has played a major role in the governance of a number of prestigious arts institutions, serving on the Boards of the Royal College of Art, London Print Studio, Hampstead Theatre, and The Clore Duffield Foundation.
Jeremy takes over the reins from Robert Taylor, whose leadership oversaw a period of great success in growing the University’s reputation – now ranking as the leading creative specialist university in all three major UK league tables.
Professor Bashir Makhoul, President and Vice-Chancellor at UCA, said:
“We welcome Jeremy to UCA at an exciting time. The world around us is changing but UCA is perfectly placed to help grow and shape the future of the creative industries. Jeremy’s great experience will be invaluable as we tackle the challenges ahead.”
Jeremy Sandelson, Chair at UCA, said:
“The creative talents and work of the students, academics and practitioners at UCA are inspiring. I am delighted to join the University as Chair as it makes great strides to cement its profile as the leading creative arts university, working with partners from across the globe.”
Jeremy will lead a Board of Governors whose members contribute a broad range of skills and experience to UCA. Together they provide strategic direction to shape UCA as it nurtures its students and practitioners and powers the creative industries.
