The Glasshouse International Centre for Music

Director of Development

Job Reference EBLTB
Closing Date Thursday 18 Jul 2024

The Glasshouse International Centre for Music is a home for live music lovers.

We’re a Foster + Partners designed building that’s internationally recognised for its distinctive design and fantastic facilities for music. We sit at the heart of Gateshead Quays, a growing and dynamic cultural district on the banks of the Tyne.

Welcoming over two million people a year for gigs, concerts, and classes, our reach is substantial. We’re a place where you can hear rock legends or pop icons on the same night as folk trios or string quartets, where new musicians are nurtured on the same stages as platinum-selling performers, and where youth choirs practice in the same spaces as our acclaimed orchestra, Royal Northern Sinfonia. Our charity also works in communities across the region.

We’re seeking a Director of Development to help us open a new chapter for The Glasshouse. A new strategy, brand, fundraising campaign, and capital development ambitions will all act to support a brilliantly creative new era.

The Director of Development will lead our fundraising efforts and join the leadership team to drive our overall strategy. We expect you’re motivated by excellence in fundraising and are ready for a leadership role at a national cultural institution.

You’ll lead but will be supported by the executive and managing directors, wider leadership team, Trustees, and ambassadors – a group that champions fundraising at The Glasshouse.

Big targets and significant asks won’t phase you. You’ll lead an already high performing team to new heights and motivate colleagues throughout our organisation to enable fundraising. You combine the tenacity to achieve targets with a desire to support a working environment that has both ambition and joy. And of course, you believe music makes a positive difference to people’s lives.

Music lives and grows here.
