Canal & River Trust

Trustee

Job Reference UAWTK
Closing Date Friday 21 Jun 2024

Canal & River Trust are the charity that look after and care for our 2,000-mile network of stunning canals and rivers that run through our landscapes. From our countryside to our bustling cities – canals are a place for everyone to connect with nature and our past. However you use them, we all deserve open spaces where we can feel happier and healthier.

But the future of these vital ecosystems is threatened by changing temperatures, unpredictable rainfall and the tests of time. As the UK’s largest waterways charity, our role in protecting and revitalising our nation’s canals never stops. And we couldn’t do this

without people like you. It takes many hands and hearts to keep our 250-year-old bridges, locks, reservoirs and towpaths in working condition, and many more to help nature, wildlife and people thrive.

We have an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for the waterways, our industrial heritage, or a love of the natural environment and the outdoors to join our Board. We are looking for a Trustee who is as passionate about making our waterways accessible to as many people as possible. A champion of and believer in bringing different perspectives to the Board, you will support us in our aim to ensure that our organisation reflects the communities we serve.

In addition to your commitment to good governance, alignment with our values is of great significance to us, as is your ability to bring broad life experience from other aspects of your professional and personal life. You will truly recognise the importance of inclusion in action as we continue to grow and broaden our reach and impact across the rich waterways our canals run through.
