Closing Date Wednesday 12 Jun 2024

Housing 21 is a leading not-for-profit provider of Retirement Housing and Extra Care for older people of modest means. We have an annual turnover of over £250m, a national presence across 240 local authorities across England across 23,300 properties who deliver over 48,000 hours of care weekly.

We are fully committed to pursuing our own distinctive, ambitious and positive strategy of growth, improvement and innovation, with three guiding principles:

Firstly: 21 – providing a modern, forward-thinking 21st century service. This includes updating and modernising our existing housing, as well as developing new and innovative property designs and service models for the future.

Secondly: Better – we strive for continuous improvement and innovation in all that we do.

Thirdly: Experience – We aim to provide a consistently excellent service and a great experience for all the people we serve. We seek to engage and empower residents to make choices and exercise control over the services they receive and to devolve decision making to local employees who are closest to the residents whenever practicable and possible.

We will have several Board Members completing their term in the coming 18 months, most of whom serve as Committee Chairs, with an immediate requirement for a Chair of our Audit and Assurance Committee. All roles are valued and remunerated equally and provide a potential opportunity for someone willing to take on a Committee Chair role. We are seeking a range of skills and experience to help us further realise our ambition. The skills we anticipate include audit, risk and strategic finance, property asset management, relevant property development and specialist social housing provision for the elderly. Candidates should bring senior-level experience of these areas. It is essential that Board Members have a strong sense of connection with the social purpose and values of Housing 21.

This is the opportunity to play an important role in an organisation which ensures older people get the quality of housing and care they need and desire. For further information please look at the information pack provided in the link below.
