West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust is a highly successful, award-winning trust providing acute and community services to a population of around 280,000 people. We are one of the largest employers in the area and provide acute hospital services from our 430-bed West Suffolk Hospital, outpatient services, and community services for the residents of West Suffolk as part of partnership of providers including East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust, Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust, East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust and Norfolk & Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust. We also train the doctors of the future and provide the clinical base for the Cambridge Graduate Medical course.

Working with the Non-executive team, you will bring a fresh perspective and play a role in shaping the board dynamic, with a focus on collaborative working and innovative approaches through considerable change. In this exciting context, the Trust is looking for individuals with backgrounds in:
- finance & audit;
- technology & digital;
- major capital project delivery;
- large scale transformation;
- and/or clinical expertise.
The Trust is particularly interested in individuals who will contribute to the Trust’s approach to strengthen system-wide working, integration and collaborative working with our partners across the health and care system. You will have a track record of prominence and excellence in your field, and have the stature, intellect and strategic ability to contribute actively to the Board of a complex organisation.
Our incoming Non-executive Directors should be role models to our organisation and highly motivated by our mission and values. You will, alongside your fellow Non-executive Directors, ensure effective governance and compliance and that performance standards are met as required by NHS England, the Care Quality Commission and other statutory bodies. The posts will report to our Chair Jude Chin.
The Trust is looking for multiple Non-executive Directors with the potential to also bring in Associate Non-executive Directors. Appointees will reside within the public constituency areas of Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Essex. This is a remunerated role with an envisaged time commitment of around three days a month.
