North Central London Integrated Care System (NCL ICS) is responsible for improving population health across a diverse population in Barnet, Enfield, Haringey, Camden and Islington. NCL ICS serves a complex health and care economy with 12 major healthcare providers, many of whom provide specialist services to the rest of London and across England, with a combined income of around £5.5bn in addition to wider partners including 5 local authorities, 180 GP Practices in 33 primary care networks, more than 280 domiciliary care providers, over 220 care homes and hundreds of voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations. The system is also supported by UCL Partners and a flourishing world-class wider academic community. NCL ICS is proud of the truly collaborative relationships that have been built which have resulted in the system being one of the few to achieve financial stability alongside exciting health innovations which would not been achieved without joined-up partnerships.

The incoming Chair will join NCL ICS at a time of real opportunity, working alongside partners as a critical friend and ambassador to deliver continuous healthcare innovation and improvement across a wider landscape of financial constraint and challenge. With NCL’s population’s best interests as their core driver and a guardian of NHS values, the incoming Chair will bring experience leading and transforming organisations to deliver a step change in performance. Working supportively, they will bring an outstanding track record of partnership working and influencing skills, inspiring the confidence of key stakeholders at the highest levels across multiple organisations. With high EQ alongside well-attuned political antennae, they will be comfortable operating in a complex, pressured environment at a time of significant organisational and systemic change. Bringing a natural authority and earned respect, candidates will also have strong operational experience and a history of compassionate leadership; they will be as credible with leaders in the health and care sectors as they are in local and central government and in the Higher Education sector. All candidates will bring a demonstrable commitment to diversity and inclusion, and to the wider values and beliefs for which NCL ICS stands. The role is competitively remunerated with a time commitment of around 2.5-3 days a week.
