Buttle UK
Trustees
At Buttle UK we are dedicated to helping children and young people in crisis in the UK: those living in financial hardship and dealing with multiple challenging social issues.
We provide support designed to improve emotional, educational and social outcomes through our Chances for Children grants which offer a holistic funding package designed to meet directly the multiple needs of vulnerable children and young people. The grants meet immediate practical needs by paying for household items, but also meet a child’s longer-term educational and emotional needs. In a small number of cases, where home is not the best place for a child to be, the grant enables them to go to boarding school. Through our empirical research and tracking, we have found that our grants can have a transformational positive impact on the young people supported.
Trustees will join at an exciting time for Buttle UK as we start work to create our new 2025 five-year strategy. We are looking for enthusiastic and committed Trustees who can make an immediate contribution to our organisation and bring the strategic skills and broad experience to help us take Buttle UK forward. The skills and experience we are looking for include:
- Investment/asset management
- Finance, accounting and audit
- Professional fundraising/income growth in charity or business
- Grant making
- Working in boarding schools
- Digital and technology
This is an unremunerated, voluntary role. We welcome applications from anyone regardless of their age, board experience, disability, ethnicity, heritage, sexuality, gender and socio-economic background. We are a charity supporting children and young people, so we would encourage applications from young people over the age of 18. We also particularly encourage applications from black, Asian, and minority ethnic candidates as these groups are strongly supported in our grant-making but underrepresented within our organisation.
