Justice and Care

Chief Executive

Job Reference NBTBA
Closing Date Tuesday 02 May 2023 (Now Expired)

Salary: c£100k

It is estimated that almost 50 million people live in slavery today, with more than 100,000 in the UK alone. Human trafficking is the fastest growing illicit trade worldwide. Justice and Care exists to bring freedom to individuals and communities living in the grip of slavery, to bring all those responsible for human trafficking to justice and to spark systemic change.

We enact our vision in three ways – Justice and Care’s own frontline work in the UK, Romania and Bangladesh, through strategic joint operations with partner organisations, and through our systemic change specialists – as we extract lessons from the frontline work and translate them into ways governments and stakeholders can fight this crime at scale. We are proud of the difference we have made on all these fronts, but there is much more to do.

As we look to our next phase, and build on our success to date, we are seeking a results-driven, ambitious and visionary CEO who will help us develop, innovate and flex how we address the issue of modern slavery – ensuring that we can be there for those who need us and spark large scale change through others to have the biggest impact. This makes for an exciting role for the right person.

We are looking for individuals with strategic leadership experience of a similar or greater size organisation that is delivery-focussed and complex, given the range of partners we work with, the scope of crimes and sophistication of criminal groups alongside the international nuances. Candidates will therefore need to bring an understanding of matrixed working, geographically dispersed networks and different cultures. We are looking for those with experience of building collaborative partnerships externally with our stakeholder groups and an empowering individual who can build effective working relationships with a highly engaged executive team and founder-led board. Candidates will need to be commercially astute, with experience in fundraising, if not an aptitude for this. Experience in our sector would be beneficial, but not essential. We are open to candidates from all sectors, providing they have the ability to build credibility quickly and they understand the nuances of working in the international development arena. Candidates will critically need to clearly articulate a deep commitment to our mission and way of working, and be an effective ambassador for Justice and Care.

Justice and Care believes in the benefits of inclusivity and diverse leadership, which is integral to our ability to support survivors. We actively and warmly encourage applications from a wide range of backgrounds for this role.
