Fundraising and Development Director
Highgate School and London Academy of Excellence (LAE) Tottenham share a mission to empower learners from all walks of life and provide an outstanding education to talented pupils in their local communities facing disadvantage, widening access to higher education and working to raise attainment levels. The two schools are seeking a dynamic fundraiser with a passion for social mobility and improving outcomes for children and young people to work across both organisations, leading a motivated team of fundraisers to enable and expand on Highgate and LAE Tottenham’s sector-leading work in this space.
The Fundraising and Development Director plays an absolutely vital role in ensuring that the schools’ extensive bursary and partnership programmes continue to thrive and make a meaningful impact on the lives of as many children as possible. Highgate’s Development and Alumni Relations team does not fundraise for capital works, meaning 100% of the donations it generates goes towards widening access to outstanding education for children and young people in the local community. As Fundraising and Development Director, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and executing Highgate and LAE Tottenham’s fundraising strategies to support the schools’ priorities. You will lead on major donor fundraising, work to identify opportunities to diversify Highgate and LAE Tottenham’s fundraising portfolio, and closely partner with the Heads of both schools to network and strengthen relationships with current and prospective donors. You will lead, inspire, and motivate a talented team of five across the fundraising and alumni relations functions, empowering them to achieve and exceed ambitious income targets.
The successful candidate will have, above all, a clear understanding of and passion for Highgate and LAE Tottenham’s purpose and mission of social mobility and community outreach through education. They will bring significant fundraising experience and expertise and will have skills to develop various fundraising streams. The successful candidate will need great personal dynamism and the ability to win support for Highgate’s cause. They will have experience of developing and implementing a strategic fundraising plan and the ability to interact with a wide range of stakeholder groups with tact, diplomacy, and great personal warmth.

The expected work ratio for this role will be 80:20 between Highgate and LAE Tottenham.
