Eastern Academic Health Science Network

Director of Finance and Corporate Services

Job Reference ZAQLB
Closing Date Tuesday 04 Oct 2022 (Now Expired)

Eastern AHSN (Academic Health Science Network) is funded by the NHS and the Office for Life Sciences to bring together academia, citizens, health services and industry to realise the value of innovations more quickly. Our focus is the East of England, but we are part of a national network which enables us to deliver at scale. At Eastern AHSN, we have a passion for health and technology and a desire to take healthcare forwards and solve difficult problems for the benefit of our community. Together, our team of around 60 professionals supports innovators from insight to implementation – helping them design and engineer new technologies and products, navigate complex systems and generate value propositions that make a positive and lasting health impact. Over the past year we have supported 849 companies across the UK and internationally, including more than 2,500 hours of support to innovators to help them turn their great ideas into positive impact. At the same time, we work closely with NHS organisations across the East of England to source innovative solutions to their most pressing challenges and provide support with evaluating and implementing them.

This is a time of growth and ambition for Eastern AHSN; we are expanding our work with partners and have the ambition to substantially grow our impact and team. We are looking for a Director of Finance and Corporate Services who shares not only our values but also our enthusiasm and commitment to making a difference for our communities. We are united by being dynamic, curious, creative and adaptable. We enjoy trying new and different approaches to solving problems and are comfortable with ambiguity, often-changing plans and unanticipated challenges.

This role combines leadership of the Finance Function with responsibility for all aspects of Eastern AHSN’s Corporate Services (HR, IT, Office Services and Legal/Company Secretary), ensuring that these are effective, efficient and compliant. The postholder has a dual reporting line, reporting to the CEO in respect of the core finance and corporate services responsibilities, and to the Chair of the Board as Eastern AHSN’s Company Secretary.  The postholder will be a key member of the Senior Management Team. The successful candidate will be commercially astute and experienced in operating in complex organisations. You will be strategic, transformative and good at forward planning, and you will have a passion for people.
