The Robertson Trust

The Robertson Trust is the largest independent grant making trust in Scotland, providing financial and other types of support to charities and individuals. It was established in 1961 when sisters Elspeth, Agnes and Ethel Robertson gave shares in their family whisky businesses to the Trust to use income from those businesses for charitable purposes.

The Trust has a clear vision; a fair and compassionate Scotland where everyone is valued and able to flourish. Through funding and supporting organisations, The Robertson Trust works to alleviate poverty and trauma in Scotland through short and long-term projects. They also use their research, knowledge and networks to inform, support, champion and inspire the third sector across the country with the aim of delivering service and system change.

We are now seeking a Chair of the Investment Committee who will serve as a trustee on main board and contribute investment expertise and insight in line with our 2020-2030 strategy. The Chair of the Investment Committee will consider, agree and recommend to the board for implementation an investment strategy and liaise with the appointed Fund Managers and Investment Advisors. They will give advice to the board on the approval of the Investment Strategy and ensure compliance with investment policies.  In addition to their role of Chair of the Investment Committee, the successful candidate will serve as a trustee on the board and bring an authentic desire to contribute to board matters more widely.

We are looking for an experienced Committee Chair who will bring a sense of drive and strategic rigour to work with board colleagues and the executive. The successful candidate will be an experienced senior leader with a successful track record and experience of finance and investment management. Candidates will bring a genuine commitment to the work of The Robertson Trust.
