Prostate Cancer UK has appointed Laura Kerby as the new Chief Executive, replacing Angela Culhane, who is retiring this month.
Laura joins the charity from Myeloma UK, where she has been Chief Executive since April 2020, having previously led the charity Penny Brohn UK for 6 years. Before that Laura sat on the executive board of Nuffield, overseeing a £140m portfolio of 65 centres and working with 35 hospitals and over 1,000 staff.
Laura said:
“I am thrilled to be joining Prostate Cancer UK and the superb opportunity to lead the charity towards an ambitious future. My father is one of the 400,000 men in the UK living with a prostate cancer diagnosis, and I am determined to ensure future lives are neither shortened nor limited by the disease.
“Every aspect of my career has been driven by health and wellbeing. I have worked strategically across the healthcare landscape in prevention, diagnostic, treatment and living well with the disease. I passionately believe that working together, uniting the best science and clinical practice means that ultimately, we will be able to beat prostate cancer. It will be a privilege to bring my leadership experience and skills to help Prostate Cancer UK in this endeavour.”
Laura will officially start on 28 February, with Director of Fundraising and Supporter Engagement, Nicola Tallett stepping up to cover as Acting Chief Executive in the interim.
